An engagement session at Mt. Lemmon in the middle of July in Arizona might give you a jump scare. I’m just being honest it definitely makes me a little nervous cause you never know what the weather might be doing that day. Luckily, there are so many gorgeous locations around Arizona that actually have great weather and are perfect for any summer time session. 

Lauren + Clif met at a Lima 42k marathon in Lima, Peru. Like HOW COOL is that. After their time in the Peace Corps they both finished grad school in Tucson and naturally they wanted me to join them in Tucson at Mt. Lemmon.

One thing about me is that if I have to travel to a location, chances are I will be there early…like hours early. I have been to Mt. Lemmon a handful of times for engagement sessions but Lauren told me about a location up the mountain I haven’t been to before. I always like to check out the area, check lighting, etc. so I decided to start my drive early from Phoenix to Tucson. As I was driving down my maps kept telling me that the road up Mt. Lemmon was closed which was concerning. There was a huge thunderstorm passing through so I assumed it was due to that and had my fingers crossed it would pass.

I am happy to report that when I got there it wasn’t closed at all, which was a sigh of relief. It was time for the engagement photos!

First we stopped at the new location and it was gorgeous. It was a fun forest location and the weather was perfect! After we drove further up the mountain to finish at Windy Point. Windy Point always amazes me with its gorgeous sunset behind the endless mountains and just the miles and miles of views. If you didn’t know, Mt. Lemmon is a Sky Island so if you ever have a chance to take the scenic drive you will not regret it!
