When you think of Phoenix you’re probably picturing towering cacti, mountains all around, and sunshine. Golden hour in the desert is unmatched in my opinion, I just love the golden glow the desert gets! As a Arizona native, I have been all over and have compiled a list of the best desert locations for your engagement session. So, let’s explore some options for desert engagements that make the most of these stunning landscapes.
My most popular desert location for engagement sessions and for good reason! Mountains, cacti, running in the road pics, and easy access to the salt river. This spot truly has it all. Golden hour here is spectacular so this spot is perfect for sunset photos and ideal for your ultimate desert engagement.
I love Usery Mountain Regional Park because there are sooo many trails and areas to choose from! I have done your classic desert photos here or you can add some fun and rent from Jenz Benz. They offer vintage cars that you can utilize during your session. Usery is a great desert location for that unique engagement vibe, plus you can avoid crowds compared to some of the other popular spots on this list. The park requires a $7.00 fee per vehicle. This one is for all my couples looking for a desert spot in North Phoenix. Apache Wash Trailhead has a few saguaros and a ton of cholla! If you get lucky you might even see all the hot air balloons which makes for some fun photos, adding an unforgettable touch to a desert engagement experience. There is no fee to shoot here and is great for both sunrise and sunset sessions!
A staple when it comes to desert engagement photos. Chances are if you aren’t from Arizona you still know about the Superstition Mountains. This location is often a top choice for a desert engagement session.
Lost Dutchman is best at sunrise and blue hour for photos of the superstition mountains. Sunset in the surrounding area is amazing for all your desert photo needs, offering diverse desert engagement opportunities.
Got to give a desert spot for all my couples on west side of Phoenix. Skyline Regional Park is my go-to if you are looking for a spot like Red Mountain but don’t want to drive across the city. This desert spot is great for big landscape shots, saguaro pictures, and has the option to do road photos! This is ideal at sunset for capturing a memorable desert engagement.
