Are you looking for a stunning wedding with mountain views? Want to have your reception on the rooftop surrounded by all your loved ones. Then you’re in the right place. Mountain Shadows is a resort in Paradise Valley (close to Scottsdale). It is a breathtaking resort and venue in Arizona, and it happens to be where Nicole + Jerry celebrated their love!
Nicole + Jerry had their first date at Buck and Rider on November 2, 2019. Before their dinner had even arrived, Nicole looked at Jerry and said, “Can I kiss you”. She says that was totally out of character for her, but I absolutely love that this is the beginning of their love story.
When I asked how they met, she told me a story of the importance of the numbers 11.2, that I just have to share with all of you. So again, they had their first date on 11.2.2019. Jerry’s parents owned a restaurant in Carson City called Adele’s (named after Jerry’s Grandmother Adele, the restaurant was originally his grandparents.) The last family photo Jerry has with his parents and brother (his brother passed away unexpectedly in 2020) in front of this restaurant, where the address was 1112, however, you can only see the 112 in the photo.
When she told me this I knew it was the universe doing it’s thing. I am also big into numbers and it is just crazy to see all these numbers come together for the two of them. Because of this, Nicole and Jerry decided to get married on this special date, November 2, 2022. Their 3 year anniversary! They chose to have their wedding at Mountain Shadows because of the mid-century modern design style.
I had just seen Nicole a month earlier for their engagement session. So I was super excited to walk into Mountain Shadows and see the space come together for their wedding! I walked into the suite where she was getting ready and it was STUNNING. A beautiful room with a large balcony, for the beautiful bride on a beautiful Phoenix day. They had the door opened to the balcony and Nicole was getting her makeup done. After some flat lay details, Nicole got into her gorgeous gown. Her mother helped her in, while her sisters helped with shoes and jewelry. Next, Nicole opened up her beautiful gifts from Jerry, a necklace and earrings. The whole morning was full of joy and excitement to finally be the wedding day. She put on her new jewelery and it completed Nicole’s bridal look.
Next up was to check on Jerry, he was finishing up tying his tie and getting his dad ready. Jerry’s dad helped get his jacket on and make sure he was ready to walk down the aisle. Nicole also had a gift for Jerry, which was a song she had made for him…SO SWEET! We played the song for him while he held the lyrics in his hands. She also gifted a sign for Jerry’s late brother so he had a seat to watch over them during their wedding.
The ceremony space was absolutely stunning. A very classic black and white look, with candles near the front of the steps, to the arch with the draping cloth and beautiful white flowers. Camelback mountain towered in the background to complete the ceremony look. If you are looking for a Scottsdale Resort to get married I would highly recommend having your wedding at Mountain Shadows Resort!
After beautiful personal vows, Nicole and Jerry exchanged their rings. When it was time for the first kiss, the officiant looked at Nicole and Nicole asked Jerry, “Can I kiss you” just like she did three years back. Queue the water works.
Nicole + Jerry then snuck off to sign their marriage license, we did some quick family photos, and were off to the golf course for some bridal portraits. The golden hour was stunning this day. Arizona really loves to put on a show around sunset and today was no different. While we were out on the hill as the sun started to set, a rainbow appeared over the reception. We all agreed that was Eric making his presence know.
After their bridal portraits, we walked upstairs to the rooftop. Here is where Nicole + Jerry had a very intimate dinner. The tables were set up beautifully with candles, florals, and beautiful plate setters with white napkins. After toasts it was time to have dinner and mingle. They also had a live singer, Sophia Humbert. Y’all…HIRE HER NOW. When I tell you she has the most angelic voice ever, I mean it. It truly set the vibe for the night and was the perfect end to their beautiful day.
